Casual: He Think He #Rapgod

no thumb

Aight y’all, this week, the winner of the Hip Hop Album of the Week was not that much of a challenge considering this was one of the only hip hop albums to come out today. But don’t think that this was a gimme, because this album goes hard. Casual is a rapper and member of alternative hip hop group Hieroglyphics out of Oakland, California. From Casual’s early beginnings with Hieroglyphics, alongside other rappers like Del tha Funkee Homosapien, to going solo and becoming one very popular underground hip hop artist, Casual has been owning mics for almost two decades. Although this album has a very contemporary production style as compared to his older alternative production sound, his lyrics are true; he makes it known that almost twenty years later, he is still an O.G. The album takes a little insight in Casual’s life as an artist, which is interesting to listen to. The album isn’t amazing, but it is definitely a great hip hop album. So, my rating…

7/10

I recommend this album to any fan of Hieroglyphics, and/or west-coast, alternative hip hop.
