For all of you people out there still thick in the head complaining hip hop is dead, it’s time for you to get a wake-up call – Lute here brings you his debut mixtapeWest1996. This album is gold people, I’m telling you. It sounds straight out of the 90s and I’ll be damned if I don’t put this up their with Jay-Z‘s Reasonable Doubt & NasIllmatic. Lute, a 22 year old North Carolina native, grew up on the west side of the Charlotte in a neighborhood called University Gardens. Hip hop was a driving force from early childhood, Lute was influenced by artist such as 2Pac, Common, Andre 3000, Nas, The Pharcyde, Bone Thugs, ect. Birthed to older parents, Lute also had a unique exposure to genres such as the Blues, Jazz and Rock. In 1996, at the age of 7, Lute was given his first hip hop album, which is why he named his first mixtape
