Even though this album received a lot of praise when it came out, I just don’t feel it is as appreciated as it should be. Compared to albums like 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul is Dead, and Stakes is High, this album just isn’t as revered as I feel it should be. This album is such a refreshing sound for both De La Soul and hip hop in general. You can expect some really dope hip hop on this album, contrary to most music coming out during its release. This album did so much for me hip hop wise; I discovered a plethora of producers and emcees through this album due to its mix of featured artists, such as Jake One, MF DOOM, Madlib, 9th Wonder and more. This is a top quality album by a top quality group and people should really think about placing this album up on the top five list of their best albums, right next to the three albums I mentioned earlier. So check out The Grind Date by De La Soul, and get a taste for some fresh, 2000s hip hop.
