Masta Ace: MA_DOOM: Son of Yvonne (prod. MF DOOM) [2012]

no thumb

Since last year, speculation and anticipation for this album has been incredible. Legendary spitter, Masta Ace teamed up with underground hip hop king, MF DOOM to make this album called Ma_DOOM: Son of Yvonne. Funny thing is, this album was scheduled to be released on July 17th, 2012, and to everyone’s surprise, the album dropped on iTunes yesterday. Upon further research, turns out Masta Ace and DOOM decided to put out the digital album yesterday, June 5th, and will release physical copies on July 17th. But since we already gave out the Hip Hop Album of the Week, we decided to give this album an entire post of its own. This album is hip hop at its finest. All of the beats DOOM provides from his Special Herbs beat tape series. Masta Ace is dope as ever and together, they create an masterpiece of an album that everybody should go get their hands on. Guest features include Pav Bundy, Milani the Arts and hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane. The mood of the album, as well as the subject matter varies from track to track; whether its Masta Ace on his grind or talking about his life’s ills, Masta Ace seems to cover it all – he even tells some crazy stories. Just as Ace’s rhymes vary, the beats also send out mixed signals – some are mellow, some are hype, they all differ. But there is one thing in common, and I don’t care if it’s corny, but they’re all dope! You gotta’ get this album.
