CunninLynguists: Will Rap for Food [2001]

will rap for feed

You gotta’ be up on your CunninLynguists‘ game. This hip hop group has been around since their humble beginnings in 2000, but when I first them was on this album right here – Will Rap for Food. I am telling you, if you haven’t heard this album, you are missing out! It was with the first song on this album, “Lynguistics” that I was instantly a fan of CunninLynguists. The fast-paced strings and the freestyle-like beat was insane and the rapping was just a dope. Then, on the next track, the solemn horns and strings that accompanied a equally solemn story about the two rappers’ rough beginnings and upcomings in the rap game. There single “So Live!” I could do without, but pretty much every track is incredible, all the way down to “616 Rewind,” which features a slew of emcees like Tonedeff and Celph Titled. This is an underground classic in my opinion and doesn’t deserve and second of being slept on. This is hands down one of their greatest projects; it’s so true and so pure to hip hop. It’s definitely my favorite album by them and it should be on your iPod, like, yesterday.

9/10
