“Algorerhythm (prod. Mankub Beats)” – ThisisDA

UK rapper, ThisisDA decided to bring back the retro on “Algorerhythm.” Produced by Mankub Beats, the instrumental features a wobbled verse with a 20s-jazz trumpet backing the hook. The drums are great, too, and feature a very popular beat break – the one used in “Top Billin'” by Audio Two. ThisisDa is a hardcore emcee with a very smart approach to hip hop. He kind of reminds me of a young Lupe Fiasco. He fits like a glove over the blaring brass and provides some dope lines over the course of the song. The visuals are interesting; they feature retro cartoons with skeletons dancing around. It’s quite the experience, but I like it. Check it out:
