Chris Angelz: THE SUPAKOOLKiD EP

No not the TV illusionist. Brooklyknight Chris Angelz hints at notes of inspiration from contemporaries J. Cole and fellow Brooklyn star Joey Bada$$ on his new EP, THE SUPAKOOLKiD. The rising rap star preaches from a place of hard work as he rhymes about his come-up both in the past and presently. Clocking in at ten tracks, THE SUPAKOOLKiD teeters on the border of EP and full-length, but besides labels, it’s interesting to see six producers provide instrumentals for this debut project. Chris Angelz’s rhymes are pretty linear throughout the album, while his flows fluctuate; but the production does ebb and flow throughout the record, something that should be honed in on for the next effort. Rather than bounce from boom-bap inspired to electronic-trap worthy, the Brooklyn rapper should find his definitive sound and stick to it (which I attest to songs like “In God We Trust” and “Extra Gravy”). Still, Angelz holds his own and echoes of a voice with potential can be heard. Stream and download Chris Angelz’s THE SUPAKOOLKiD EP below for FREE.
