A Tribe Called Quest, anyone? MEN$A (not to be confused with Chicago emcee Vic Mensa) reaches into his bag of flows to prove his worth on the Niko-produced “Lil Jody.” The track’s bassline is very reminiscent of ATCQ productions, and the drum break is the same one sampled on Kendrick Lamar‘s “Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst.” Throw those two styles together and put a practiced rapper on it and you have the makings for something pretty good.
