K-Murdock: A Christmas Story [2012]

pic23

Originally released in 2010, K-Murdock (of Panacea) got festive for the holidays by releasing this holiday-inspired hip hop project called, A Christmas Story. Featuring some snowy soundscapes, wintry ambiance and hot as cocoa drums, this album is sure to leave you jolly. If these puns haven’t killed you yet, read on to find out why I will be bumping K-Murdock’s A Christmas Story this holiday season.

Bells jingle, choirs sing and beats are banged out like never before. If you didn’t know already, K-Murdock is a talented music producer who creates some pretty scenic soundscapes through his eclectic instrumentation. On A Christmas Story, updated from the 2010 version, K-Murdock lays down seven incredibly festive hip hop beats for you to jam to while sipping hot chocolate or decorating your house or chilling by the fire.

With a little help from Random and Mr. Miranda, an entertaining set of rhymes create the first track, “A Christmas Story.” Along with that, there are six bright and cheery instrumentals sampling some well-known holiday tracks. Four of the beats come off of a project K-Murdock produced for rapper Lars, but it’s dope to hear them on this project, nonetheless.

Inducing a little holiday spirit through the joy of hip hop, K-Murdock does what I’ve personally never seen before: a hip hop holiday album. A Christmas Story takes holiday cheer and turns it into some really dope, even a little bit jazzy, hip hop. You can buy this project (or even gift it!) for just a few bucks straight through Neosonix’ Bandcamp. Enjoy the holiday season this year by playing K-Murdock’s A Christmas Story.
