I don’t know about where you guys live, but here in Ohio it’s fiiiinally starting to look like spring out. As a total music nerd/all around weirdo, I like to listen to music that matches the season. So as the weather starts to warm up I put away those old Wu-Tang records (and nearly any 90s East Coast rap album), I break out albums like Outkast‘s ATLiens and Masta Ace‘s Disposable Arts.
Another quirk I have is every year around this time, I start collected songs for a playlist that I dub “Summer 20XX Playlist,” and yesterday the first addition to my Summer 2013 Playlist was released.
Indie Rap veteran J-Live dropped an unexpected banger, “The Fun Razor.” And it’s an absolutely perfect song for my playlist: it’s got a warm-sound sample, a fun and laid back subject matter and a catchy hook. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a dope track all around. Not sure if this is the first single off of an upcoming album (his first since his incredibly dope 2011 album S.P.T.A.), but I’m sure I speak for everyone at the Speakeasy when I say I hope it is.
